Cancelled
Despite the efforts of many V fans, via Project Alice, (an online campaign created by V webhostess Ilana Rapp) Friday the 13th was indeed a bad luck day for the Visitors. The series was canclled by ABC after just 2 short seasons.
In the Fall of 2009 ABC's V initially premiered with strong ratings, but its ratings declined shortly after, and fell even lower in the spring due a mid-season hiatus.
Admist the rumors and campaining of a return in November of 2010, V returned in January 2011, to good ratings, but fewer episodes. Although the ratings fell substantially lower than hoped from its intial premier. The show’s ratings managed to stay in a repeated ratings range, neither trending up or down.
The fan base grew by season 2 with the new cast addition from the Villainess and always beautiful Jane "Diana" Badler from the ’80s version. Fans also appreciated the new direction by new Executive Producer/Writer/Director Scott Rosenbaum. His changes and vision for the show appeared to give Van upswing despite the ratings and the initial shaky start, V seemed like it was working creatively, and visually.
In the final episode of season 2, Rosenbaum even pleased fans more with another nostalgic cast addition with Marc "Donovan" Singer. It was even rumored that he would have become a series regualr in season 3 playing a pivotal role in fighting the V's.
Alas, the visitors have left earth again. Let's all hope V The Motion Picture comes to a theater soon. SV
