Morena Baccarin: V’s Evil Alien QueenComments
By Lynn Barker

In Pasadena, Ca. we hung out at a party where we found beautiful Morena
Baccarin. If you watched the series “Firefly”, you know her as “courtesan”
Inara Serra. Now, the dark-haired beauty with the pixie cut plays scary and
sexy Anna, ruler of the invading Visitor race on ABC’s “V”.  On the surface,
the Visitors are kindly but under their “skins”, they are lizard-like and very
much a horrible threat to Mankind.

This new season, original 1980’s evil “V” commander Diana played by the
still stunning Jane Badler, returns as Anna’s mom. We had to know about
their relationship, the addition of original “V” star Marc Singer to the cast,
Morena’s continuing encounters with fans of “Firefly” and we asked if she
is trying to put a little “humanity” into Anna.  Picture the actress in a gorgeous
black cocktail dress.

ABCTeenTelevision:
How has it been to work with Jane Badler as Anna’s mom?

Morena:
She’s really awesome. We went out a few times in Vancouver together. She’s really sweet. We had dinner and hung out. I met her husband, who’s really awesome. It’s been fun to have her around.

How much more intense will their relationship get this season?

It gets pretty intense. Even lizards get annoyed by their moms. She does a really good job of pushing my buttons. We have an intense relationship and it gets pretty fueled up. At the end, in the season finale, they really go head-to-head.

When did you know that she would be playing your mother?

I had been told that they were looking for somebody, right before we started shooting last year. And then, we found out that she was one of the top contenders.

Had you seen her in the role of Diana on the original TV show?

Of course. Who can forget? She gave me goosebumps growing up. I think I spent many sleepless nights because of her.

Your character Anna has a bit more of an emotional side this season. How do you find that balance?

I’m trying. I think it’s important to humanize her because that is the interesting struggle for this character; to have her not be human, but struggling with human things. Just like any creature coming into a new environment, you have all these outside forces that influence you.

Who would you love to see as a guest star on the show?

A lot of us on the show are obsessed with “Modern Family” and we think there should be a switch. The whole family can come aboard the mothership, and then maybe we can come over for dinner or something.

That would be hilarious. Is there anything you can hint at, as far as what’s coming up on the show?

Marc Singer [original 1980’s “V” star] is going to be on the show in the season finale, so that’s really fun. It’s a great reveal.

Are his pants going to be as tight as they were in the ‘80’s? That was legendary at the time.

[laughs] I hope so!  He’s playing one of the leaders of a different branch of the Fifth Column [resistance]. I won’t reveal exactly what it is, but it’s a much bigger Fifth Column than exists right now.

Will you have any scenes with him?

I don’t have any scenes with him, no. Not yet.

Is it something that will continue to Season 3, if there is one?

Yes, definitely. He would be on the show. He’s essentially joining the show, if we get another season.

How will the relationship between Anna and her daughter Lisa continue to develop?

We have an interesting dynamic. She’s actually becoming a little more human and going more towards Erica’s (Elizabeth Mitchell) section [of the resistance] than mine. I’m still breeding her to be Queen and wanting her to have that hardness that I have, but I start to see that she maybe doesn’t have that in her.

This hybrid baby plays a big role, as something that gets between our relationship, because I start to develop feelings for this little baby.

What was your reaction the first time you saw the effects that they did with your character, especially when her mouth really grows and she has scary teeth?

It is totally bizarre. I’m so glad that I rely on amazing people to make me look like that ‘cause it could go terribly wrong. But, it’s weird. It’s awkward shooting it. You have to pretend that you’re doing it, and then you’re not really doing it. But then I saw it and I think they did such a phenomenal job with that. It’s so weird.

Are you able to give a lot of input into your character?

Not as much as I would like to. I have some ideas and I would like to get them pushed through, but there’s a network and studios and a lot of people to okay anything. I definitely get stuff out there and talk with the writers and producers. Scott Rosenbaum is really sweet and will listen to whatever I say. It’s been fun to create this character.

Interview | Taking Measure Of V
by Josh Wigler

In the war against the Visitors, there is perhaps no greater asset
than Kyle Hobbes. A highly trained mercenary who typically works
for the highest bidder, Hobbes has made an exception to his rules
in siding with the Fifth Column, secret group of resistance fighters
working to prevent the invading alien forces from annihilating
mankind. But Hobbes is a man who’s already flexible loyalties are
put to the test when the Visitors threaten an unidentified woman
from his past: sacrifice her life, or join the cause.

It’s not an easy predicament, certainly not for Hobbes himself, but
also for Charles Measure, the New Zealand actor who plays the
cool-tempered gunman on ABC’s V. Measure joined sci-fi series
midway through season one, when the second season premieres
January 4, he’ll be enjoying first episode as a series regular.

The actor spoke with Spinoff Online and other journalists on the Vancouver set of V during production on tonight’s season premiere, discussing his character’s evolution and his hopes for season two.

Spinoff Online:
Congratulations on the series regular upgrade! At what point did you realize you were going to be a regular for season two?

Charles Measure:
Very early on into season one, you had to suspect it. The resistance needed someone who could help them fight a war. I’d heard various things from day one and throughout season one, but I didn’t hear confirmation until the last few weeks of shooting season one.

Other than contractually, does it make a difference in your life having “regular” in your title as opposed to [being] a supporting cast member?

Yeah. When you’re playing supporting characters, you come in and bring new information or you’re there to get in the way of something. Whereas this time around, I get my own storyline, which is fantastic.

So what will that storyline be?

At the end of season one, we saw Hobbes doing some kind of clandestine deal with Marcus. He was saying, “Come and work for the V’s, or else.” Hobbes goes, “Well, I’m going to head for the hills and you’ll never find me.” And he goes, “Well maybe we can’t get to you, but we can get to this person.” He pulls out this photo, which has some impact on Hobbes. So that’s the story we’re going to pursue for the moment.

Will we meet that person?

Hmm… [Long pause] Well, anyway. [Laughs] I’ll tell you what I know, which is not a great deal — we get stories one by one, and in this first episode, we’re beginning to tell that story.

Who this season would you like to spend more time with?

Who this season would I like to spend more time with? I like the stuff with Elizabeth Mitchell. That’s always a lot of fun. She’s pretty cool! She’s cool and she’s fun to hang out with — she’s a very funny lady — and in front of the cameras, she makes some choices that other people wouldn’t make. She’s a very interesting actor to work with. I wouldn’t mind spending some time with [Morena Baccarin] or [Laura Vandervoort] either, but I don’t see that happening anywhere in the near future.

Hobbes started off as a very reluctant member of this resistance group. He’s a guy who typically works on his own terms and this isn’t exactly the type of assignment he usually takes, since it’s essentially pro bono. How do you feel the character has evolved from where we first saw him to where he’s at right now?

There are a couple of things that have happened. In the beginning, he didn’t know or care about these people. He was very suspicious of [the Visitors] being kind of a credible threat. Now, he knows they’re a very credible threat, so from a purely survival standpoint, Hobbes is kind of thinking: “Well, where’s the percentage in siding with the team who could potentially wipe out all of humanity?” Now he knows that they’re a very credible threat, and he probably has to throw his hat into the ring to see them off.

The other thing is that he’s been spending time with these resistance people, and at some level, he likes them. At some level, he’s loyal to them. He’s in a state of conflict between those two things and the leverage that Marcus holds over him, and also his own nature to look out for himself, survive, make a shitload of money and head for the hills, you know? So that’s all going on.

What appeals to you about playing that kind of character?

It’s fantastic, because I truly do not know what’s going to happen to him. Usually you’ll watch an episode of TV and you can tell from a mile away what’s going to happen to your character, but with this guy, I can’t. I’d like to think that he’s going to side with the resistance and do the right thing, but anything could happen.

Why would you want him to do that? [Laughter] Would you want to play the heroic character as opposed to somebody who’s a little bit sneakier?

I mean… on most of the shows you do, they’re about cops and robbers and lawyers, or doctors and nurses or whatever. A character can be a little bit sneaky and look out for themselves on those shows, and we go, “Oh, he’s a survivor. He’s interesting.” Well, this is a show about the entire human race against an enemy that is so powerful and so evil that we can’t quite comprehend it yet. There’s no interesting gray area there, you know? If he’s a bit sneaky and sides with the aliens to make money, that’s not very interesting or appealing to an audience, I think.

Also, I’ve been doing this for 15 odd years, and most of my career, I’ve been playing bad guys. It would be nice to get the girl and run off into the sunset for a nice change! [Laughs] I don’t know that Hobbes is a real picnic on the beach guy frolicking in the sand with his M-16 or something, but anything could happen.

Hobbes is caught between two sides in the second season of V.
Going into season two, Hobbes is carrying a big secret with him: “I’ve got a deal going on with the V’s.” While that might not be something that would bother him before, is it something that’s causing kind of a headache for him right now?

Yeah, yeah. It was the weirdest thing; I think the last scene that I did in season one was with Joel Gretsch. He gave his amazing performance, this amazing sermon in church. I walked into that scene — both as an actor and as a character — I walked into that last scene right after I’d just come from a scene where I’m selling out all of humanity. There’s also this other person, this mystery person — this photo — that Hobbes cares about very much. So, that’s going on in my head as well. I go in and I see this guy, this priest, who should be my enemy but he’s actually become somewhat my friend, giving this very important speech to get people behind the resistance.

I go in and sit next to a woman who [works for] the FBI — she should be my mortal enemy, but at some level, she’s become my friend as well, and Hobbes is also probably attracted to her at some level. She’s just come off of the alien ship alive, and she should be dead. I’d never expected to see her again, but she’s alive. I’m thrilled about that!

And I’m sitting there in God’s house, having just betrayed all of humanity. There is just so much going on here. I turned to Elizabeth and I said, “What do I play here?” [Laughs] It just shows as a character how many pressures there were on this guy, and as an actor, what do you play? There’s so much going on. I just don’t know which way it’s going to go.

How quickly are you just going to be falling into bed with people? [Laughter] We think the show needs more sex!

I truly couldn’t argue with that at all. [Laughs] It was funny. Elizabeth and I would have these scenes and sort of add in these little things, moments of flirtation and what not, and most of them didn’t get into the show. They kind of cut around that. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I would love for Hobbes to fall into bed with just about any female character on the show!

I’d love for Hobbes’ heart to come out in some way. I think that would be great.

Do you feel a different comfort level coming out of the start of the second season than you did coming into the first season in the middle of things? Do you feel like you’re now established and with the team?

Oh, yeah. In terms of the cast and crew? Yeah, yeah, very much. We were just down in San Diego at Comic-Con and we had a great time…

Did you really? Comic-Con is overwhelming, isn’t it?

It’s funny. I spoke to some other actors who were down there, not from this show, who were [bored by] Comic-Con. I come from New Zealand where we’re not incredibly passionate people. We don’t get turned on by anything other than rugby. I had 15 years of TV in New Zealand where the biggest response you’d get is, “Oh, he’s off Street Legal.” Out here, everybody is like, “Oh my god, you’re on V!” It’s just fantastic to have that kind of energy, that kind of passion, you know? So I loved Comic-Con. It was great.

We’re heading towards this big battle in season two. Are we going to see more plotting and planning, or in the first episode will we get right into some sort of battle?

There’s a bit of both. Season one was all about the cold war. Everything that’s going on is covert and by the side. But in the first episode, there are some overt interactions.

Are you getting involved with some of that?

Yeah, some. [Laughs] Hobbes is always involved in that kind of thing.

'V' star Baccarin teases Visitor reveal
By Morgan Jeffery

V star Morena Baccarin has revealed details of the alien Visitors' true appearance.

The race's true reptilian skin will finally be unveiled in the show's second season
finale, according to USA Today.

Baccarin explained: "What I like about [the look] is that it doesn't look like any
particularly recognisable species. It's like a conglomeration of all these different
lizard types. It even looks prehistoric. There's something like a T-Rex about it,
with a lizard mixed with a Komodo dragon."

Baccarin's co-star Jane Badler, who also featured in the original V series, admitted
that there is "no comparison" between the new Visitors and the old.

"In its time, [the old make-up] was great," she said. "But looking at it now, there's no
comparison in techniques, in digital special effects. It's incredible what they do now."

Executive producer Scott Rosenbaum added that the Visitors' new appearance holds clues to the history of the creatures.

"If you look close enough and study it, you can sort of figure out what the Visitors have been doing throughout the course of history in the universe," he claimed. "Answers to that are revealed literally in [their] physical nature."

Will the new Visitors show us a familiar eating habit??

A few months backs Morena Baccarrin, Anna, had hinted that we may see some reptilian feeding
in the second season of ABC's reimagined V.  The picture to the right indicates that her hint may be
happening in the ucoming episode "Serpernt's Tooth", but just how much digesting will actually be
shown?  With the special effects available today one can only imagine how impressive this will be.

In the 80's V miniseries (pictured right) Jane Badler, in the original visitor role of Diana, digested a
guinee pig and made sci-fi Tv history.  The special effects for that time were a bit limited to what can
be done today, but this scene still sent many chills down my spine.  Love the swallowing effect...brrrr.

Scott Wolf Reports On V’s Chad Decker
by Josh Wigler

V quite literally set the sky on fire with the conclusion of its first season in 2010.
When the show returns on Tuesday with its second season premiere, viewers
will learn a whole lot more about the titular “Red Rain,” thanks in large to the
work of broadcast news journalist Chad Decker, who is played by Scott Wolf,
lending an appropriate smarminess to the dangerously ambitious newsman.
Suffice it to say that Chad isn’t always the most likable character on the series
what with his wavering allegiances and his dumbfounding loyalty to the reptilian
alien invaders. But Wolf insists that Chad has other layers waiting to be discovered
— layers he’ll get to explore in the new season.

Wolf spoke with Spinoff Online and a handful of other journalists during our visit to
the Vancouver set of V last summer, offering us a tease of the new season and a
detailed analysis of Chad’s complicated psyche and frequently maddening decision
-making skills.

Spinoff Online: How is the season treating you so far?

Scott Wolf: So far, so good. We’ve just scratched the surface — we’re in the middle of [shooting] our first episode — but it’s good to be back. It’s so much better than the alternative. [Laughs] We’re really excited. I don’t think it’s any secret that we’ve had our bumps in the road last year, and I think any first year series probably experiences some of that. It’s a huge show with a giant cast and epic story and big mythology, so I think having everybody on the same page was difficult last year. This year, it’s completely different. It just feels like they’ve used the time [between seasons] to figure all the things out that they might not have figured out before. They have a very clear plan that everyone agrees is a great plan for the story of the year and for each individual character. It feels like they’re going to have the brain power this year because it felt like things were on two wheels at times last year. To get really specific and to tell the story as well as possible became increasingly difficult. It feels like this year, they’re way ahead of it. We’re getting scripts way ahead of time…

They’re not changing at the last minute?

No. It was really — truth be told — it was fairly chaotic last year. The fact that a show aired every Tuesday was sort of miraculous. [Laughs] But it’s a whole new year. Everyone is very optimistic and very glad to be back. Already, this first script really lets it rip. I think the thing that everybody saw last year was down the stretch in those last few episodes, you started to see the show that this could and should be. It feels like we’ve launched from there and we just got our second script, which we start shooting next week, and it’s even better than this first one.

I have to say that one of the greatest things about being back is this group of people. This cast is outstanding. You look around and I have not just admiration for their talent — I just love these people. They’re great. I’m blessed. It’s cliched to say, “Oh, we love each other,” but it really does… and especially last year, when things were unnerving in terms of… well, you guys all know: getting material at the last second, having major things changing within the confines of the show and the writing, it felt [good] to have a group of people that you looked around and trusted and counted on and knew that everyone would rise to the occasion. I think our writers and producers did a pretty amazing job given the fact that — you know, especially with [new showrunner Scott Rosenbaum] coming in halfway through a season and having a tricky job ahead of him, I’m pretty proud of what he was able to accomplish last year, especially with the end of the season. No one around here ever put their heads down or phoned it in or gave half of a performance: everybody gave everything they had, and I’d like to think that that’s at least part of the reason why we’re still here.

Last season, Chad might have done some things for the betterment of his own career that also had some adverse affects for the rest of the world.

I suppose you could frame it that way. [Laughs] One of the fun things about this character, and I’ve talked about this before, is that he sort of lives in this gray area. You have a lot of characters who are pretty explicitly pro-V or anti-V, so the fun of Chad, in terms of playing him and in terms of the way they’ve written him, is that it’s hard to tell who this guy really was and who he’d be in the end. Not until the very, very end of the first season did we see him really come face-to-face with the truth for the first time. Whether he was blinding himself from that beforehand or choosing not to see it or really not seeing it, one of the things that was interesting is that certain people forget to some degree what Chad actually and literally has or hasn’t seen. It was easy for an audience to sit back and go, “What is he thinking? She’s a crazy and evil alien that wants to hurt and kill us all!” [Laughs] From his perspective, and this is an actor justifying himself of course, but he had only seen so much. He had seen her go into Timbal with blue energy and heal the place, the equivalent of fixing Haiti today. As far as he was told, he had been healed of a brain aneurysm that would have killed him. He had seen the good side of Anna, and yes, he’s built in a way where he’s looking for that and trying not to see the rest. But she made it easy for him to do that.

One of the things that Scott has talked about recently, which to me I always loved about the promise of the show from the beginning, is that ultimately, this is a show about humanity and how our frailties and our strengths each factor into the choices we make in our lives and the things that we do and the people that we spend our time with. In the end here, our survival is going to depend on which part of our humanity winds up ruling the day. Through Chad, we watched what happens if potentially greed or ambition or power, which you could say are part of our frailties as people, when that’s front and center, the sky turns red. [Laughs] I’ve always known that Chad Decker, in the end, could be a person who helps save the world or helps destroy it. It’s a lot of fun to stand in that body and even himself not quite knowing.

This is a hard show to talk about without giving stuff away, but pretty immediately, we see a Chad Decker who has seen the light. What was fun about the end of last season is that there’s a sense of, okay, now he knows. But there’s still this question about him. We still don’t know… he hasn’t proven himself to be a person that once he knows, he’ll fight for the right side. What I can say is that in the season premiere, we see Chad, for the first time, truly declaring his allegiance to one side.

Decker finally chooses a side in the new season of V.  Who is Chad spending the most time with in that first episode?

Chad spends most of his time in the first episode speaking with Father Jack. That doesn’t necessarily mean anything… [Laughs] What will hopefully remain fun about Chad is that he’s always — people are who they are. He’s built a certain way and he wants certain things out of his lifetime. That, for the most part, isn’t going to change much, how he functions in the world. But the way he uses who he is could change given what he’s found out. For me, I feel like what will continue to be enjoyable about playing the character is that he’s vulnerable. Playing a character like that is fun: there are no absolutes for him. Every other character has some sort of absolute value. Anna will do anything to take care of her people. Erica will do anything for Tyler. Ryan would have done anything for Val, and now, could do anything for his baby. We haven’t seen that Chad has anything in his life that he would do anything for, and it’ll be interesting to see if the character finds that through our story.

I can tease that Chad, in episode two, for the first time, I’m going to be involved in a stunt. That’s very exciting! I just spend all my time yapping…

What kind of training is required for the stunt?

I don’t think there’s any kind of training. It’s not like a punch or a kick — that I would enjoy, too — but it’s an event that I’m there for. I’m just excited that I get to see the stunt coordinator. [Laughs] I’m inching towards throwing a punch!

You’ve said that Chad’s going to make a decision regarding his loyalty. Will that decision stick for a while? Do you think it’ll stick forever?

Again, because of the way this guy is built and who he is, I don’t think that there’s a forever in his life. But it’ll stick for a while. I think everyone’s allegiances were tested towards the end of last year and his will continue to be tested, just because he’s a vulnerable human being. Despite what he now knows, he still wants certain things out of his life and I think he wants to continue to rise in this lifetime. Even if he finds different avenues to get there, I think that’s still what he’s after. He’ll always be vulnerable to a better plan to get what he wants, but I think we’ll see a different Chad Decker this year: somebody who is much more proactive. Last year, I think he was very much in this space of waiting to see which team was better. Now, once he picks a team, it’ll be interesting to see him a little bit more the master of his own domain.

Were you expecting him to choose the [side] that he did, or were you surprised by his choice?

I’m sorry for the vagary that I have to talk about this in, but it’s revealed pretty quickly what he decides to do. But no, I suppose it doesn’t come as a huge surprise. What I like, and what I think is the most fun about the position that he’s in, is that he’s in this rare position in the middle where he has access to both [sides]. His only access to the Fifth Column and the resistance has been Father Jack, and they don’t quite know whether they can trust him or not. Throughout the first season, he was in a position where he was playing both sides and it seemed in a way to have both sides believing that they had a very useful ally and tool in him. In the beginning of this second season, he’s still in the middle but he has work to do to convince both sides that he’s worthwhile. At the end of that last season, his last exchange with Anna, she seems to see that he’s changed and that something’s different in him. So she threatens him: “I’ve made life pretty nice for you and I could make it not nice for you.” What I can say is that it takes a minute before we see Chad and Anna in the same room again, and a lot changes between the last time they saw each other and this time. I’m looking forward to seeing that dynamic moving forward. He’s in a position to be something of a double agent one way or the other, which is fun.

Do you watch news broadcasts at all to get templates for insincerity?

Yeah, I do! [Laughs] It’s funny. There’s a big news broadcast that Chad does to open this second season, and my approach to it changed a little bit because of this awakening he’s had. Let’s just say he has a renewed need to connect with his audience. Chad has survived so far with his toes in some pretty scary waters, and I think there’s a reason for that. He’s proven himself to be useful and he’s found power for himself in the world through his relationship with Anna. I think we now see a guy who, to some degree, is way in over his head, deeper than he could have thought. I think he was operating with business as usual: “I’m going to control this person and get what I need from them.” He might not have stepped back and actually seen the big picture. It’s funny that he’s built that way, but I think he was able to focus in on what he wanted, and it took until the end of the year for him to realize, “Holy crap. These are aliens! I could have been killed at any time, and it’s kind of crazy that I’m still alive. But I have this aneurysm; how long will I stay alive?” He’s a little more in scramble mode now, and I think part of scramble mode for him is making sure that the public is still with him and he’s still with them. I’m actually shooting [the broadcast] tomorrow, and I’m looking forward to it, because I feel it has an urgency that some of the other broadcasts haven’t. It’s fun to play this news guy. This was a career that I would have wanted to have if I hadn’t been an actor, probably. It’ll be fun playing a news guy who is actually now not just the surface elements of it. The way he approaches his work is going to change because of the situation he’s in.

There’s talk about Chad’s father coming into play this season, right?

I know a little bit about it. There are a couple of stories midway through the season that involve Chad, and both sound pretty exciting. The father one is pretty great. All I know is a little more than I can tell you. [Laughs] Meeting him explains a lot about why Chad is the person he is in the world, why he’s made some of the decisions he’s made. His dad is in a position of power, so it won’t just be a private Chad-and-his-father side story; it’ll be part of the big fabric of the Visitors and how the government interacts with them and all these kinds of things. I’m excited about it. The first season is really just the big building blocks of a story, and now things get a lot more personal and specific. Ultimately, the plot of our story is pretty cool and you can only really get as involved as much as you care about the characters and relationships. I’m excited that about a year now, it’ll still have incredible story, but it’ll be rooted a lot more in why these people are who they are and why they’re making the decisions they’ve made, why they’re heroes or villains.

Ultimately, it’s funny that I like Chad, and I’m the only one who does. [Laughs] But I like him a lot. Any actor has to justify and find a way to believe in their character and understand why he does what he does. I think this father story will really serve to explain how a guy becomes someone who functions like Chad does. I’ve played likable characters in other stories I’ve been in, and I’ve also played characters who aren’t so instantly likable. I don’t really care about that; I don’t put much thought into that. As a matter of fact, I was making some choices in a scene I did yesterday and the director goes, “We want people to like this guy.” I get that, and there is something about wanting people to participate with your character. That’s important on a television series, even if that’s actively hating them. But I think it’ll be interesting to see how the audience handles Chad if he’s asking to be seen in a new light. It’s one thing for our characters in our show and how they handle it, but it’ll be interesting to see if an audience is willing to give him a second chance.

V Alien Revealed!

If you've been dying to know what the visitors look
like under all of that human flesh on ABC's sci-fi
series V, wonder no more as one of the biggest
television spoilers of the year has appeared
online in the form of a photograph. That's right,
the image to the right is what the reptilian, wasp-
waisted aliens of V actually look like:

The visitors will be making their true presence
known in the upcoming second season of V,
which kicks off tonight with Episode 02.01: Red
Rain. Morena Baccarin, who plays Queen Visitor
Anna, stated, "(It) is really cool. What I like about
it is it doesn't look like any particularly type of
recognizable species. It's like a conglomeration
of all these different lizard types. It even looks prehistoric. There's something like a T. rex about it, with a lizard mixed with a Komodo dragon."

The alien's true appearance will slowly be unveiled throughout the course of the next ten episodes, which of course USA Today completely ruined by revealing the above photo earlier today.

Producer Scott Rosenbaum explained that he needed to flesh out the backstory of the visitors before he and his team locked down their true guise, "There is a reason the creature I ended up wanting to design looks familiar in many ways and unfamiliar in many ways. Throughout the season, you'll be seeing exactly what the Visitors look like underneath, and while some of it will be explained as to why they look the way they do ... if you look close enough and study it, you can sort of figure out what the Visitors have been doing throughout the course of history in the universe. Answers to that are revealed literally in (their) physical nature."

Elizabeth Mitchell on the return of 'V': 'If you were frustrated by
the last season, which you probably were, I think that this will be
far more satisfying.'
by Darren Franich

Going into the season premiere, what’s your short pitch to fans who were
disappointed by the first season of V?

ELIZABETH MITCHELL: My short pitch is: You will not be bored. [laughs] My little-bit-
longer pitch is: If you were frustrated by the last season, which you probably were —
I was, a little bit — I think that this will be far more satisfying. There is far more action
and there is far more of what you want in an alien-invasion story, where the aliens are
out to use us as food and take our technology and do everything bad you can think
about. There’s more of that wonderful thing of”Us-Against-Them” stuff, which is always
so satisfying in a fictional sense. And also, there’s some good sexy stuff!

How is this season different from the last one?

I think the last three episodes [of season 1] were a good indicator of where this season is headed. Instead of people sitting around talking people were actually accomplishing things. I wanted to be an action hero, not an exposition hero! I spent all that time training, learning to kick ass, and then all I did was talk. I was like, “I’m so bored! I wanna hit people and kiss boys!” [Laughs] The first one comes in quickly, and it’s eerie, what happens and the way they go about it. It starts just like a movie, which is the way that you want it to. The effects in it are just gruesomely good.

Do we get to see more of the Visitors’ bodies? Or a closer look at Ryan’s hybrid baby?

We get to see more than we ever have. You see the baby’s head, you see the baby’s back. [The producers are] definitely doing what I hoped they would do, which is to titillate but at the same time to satisfy. I feel like you have to do that. Otherwise, you’re just watching, like, “Well, are we never gonna see that?” We need to have anticipation, but we also need to be a little bit happy.

Initially, it seemed like Erica had a bit of chemistry with Joel Gretsch’s Father Jack, but towards the end of the season she seemed to be developing some feelings for Hobbs.

It does feel that way! It’s kind of going to be interesting to see where that particular storyline goes. Because Hobbs is a mercenary. He basically stands for everything that Erica hates! But my choices are between that and God’s son [laughs]. Maybe it’s just because I’m a woman, but even as a lover of sci-fi, one of the things that makes it more fun is the possibility of romance. I’m not talking about an icky romance, I’m talking a strong-person romance. Especially when it’s really strong people engaged in some kind of horrible tragedy.

So Erica takes a more pro-active role this season?

Erica gets tougher and tougher, and I like to think that’s because I write them an email every week saying “Please, just let her be tougher! What would a man do here? Just pretend I’m not a woman! People know I’m a girl, so let’s just have her be a hardass!” [laughs] My ideal version is for Erica to not be the one we root for. I live very happily in morally ambiguous. I find as an actor, playing those darks is always fun.

That was the interesting thing with Juliet on Lost: You didn’t know for a very long time whether she’d be good or evil.
It was shocking for me that anyone ever liked her! I loved her with a passion, but only because she wasn’t trying to make anyone like her. A lot of times, you get onto these shows, and they’re like, “You need to be likable, you need to be likable.” I just need for the story to feel real to me, and to feel authentic. I’m an oddity. And obviously I’m not going to be someone who sells TV shows [laughs]. But they hired me! They knew what they were getting.

Have you gotten to work with Jane Badler at all?

A little. She’s fantastic, and a bigger flirt than I am. We’re both really good about it, we’re really respectful flirts. But I admire her, she’s got mad game. I think that she’s wonderful, and she’s motherly, but sexy and kind at the same time. I’m very entranced with her. The boys finish a day working with her and they come back, like, “Wow.” [laughs]

Are you still filming the series?

We’ve finished all our episodes! It is a ten-episode season, so it’s going to be like a little miniseries.

Is ABC going to play every episode?

I’ve been told they’re going to play it all out. I’ve been told that’s the reason for the ten: they have an exact time, an exact slot, an exact period of time that they want to do it, that they’ve really thought it out. You never know, things always change, but that was always the plan.

Are you working on anything else right now?

I promised my five-year-old I would do a lot of nothing. We have lightsabers and we fight outside in the yard at night to make them glow. And we make noises. I do dress sometimes as a Jedi master. Because I’m a mom, and that’s what we do. I have a fair knowledge of swordplay, so now I just have to figure out my lightsaberplay.

What color lightsaber do you prefer to use?

How interesting that you would ask! Blue and red are the two we play with.

Vintage! Does he lean towards the prequel trilogy, or is he an old-school fan?

Oh, I don’t think I’m going to show him the prequels. [Laughs]

Probably a good call. Last question: Does this ten-episode season end at a place that points directly forward to a third season? Or is there a potential roundout in the season finale, if V doesn’t get picked up.

I wouldn’t say that episode 10 is a series-ender by any stretch of the imagination. It ends in such a way that you’d want to see a third season. It leaves you really ramping up for a big fight.

So the characters don’t all wake up in a church with a heavenly light behind them?
Who would ever do that?

'V' star 'could return for third season'
By Morgan Jeffery

V star Jane Badler has revealed that she may reprise her role as Diana in a
potential third season.

The actress, who also appeared in the original V series, will make her first
appearance in the ABC reboot in the second season premiere.

"I always thought I'd be a one-season person, but there is always that potential
[for a return]," she admitted to Entertainment Weekly. "It depends, I guess, on
the reaction to me. I'm very pleased with this one season. It definitely did what I
wanted [it] to do!"

She added that the finale to the second season will be a "huge" episode.

"I can't say what happens, but... hopefully viewers will flock to see the show
because it will be amazing," she claimed.

Badler also defended the first season of the show, which suffered a severe drop in ratings throughout 2010.

"They are trying to reinvent it in their own way," she said. "You can never recapture something. Who knows why something becomes magic in its time? I don't understand it."

She continued: "I don't think the [new] show will be ever be [like the old show], but I still think it's a very, very good series and I'd love to see it find some sort of an audience."

Keck's Exclusives First Look: V Brings Back an Old Fave
by William Keck

First Jane Badler, and now Marc Singer! The '80s hunk, who played the
original V's strapping lizard slayer Mike Donovan, will appear in the season
finale of ABC's updated V as all-new freedom fighter Lars Tremont.

"It was an inevitability," says the confident star, now 62. "You have to include
the personalities who started this dynamic. As V grows, it becomes like a big,
hungry animal needing nourishment to grow more and more muscle.
" Whatever you say, Marc, although I might have gone with a reptilian analogy.

Look for Marc to be dispatching lizards alongside Elizabeth Mitchell's
Erica Evans, who Marc says "is striking and cuts a fine figure."

Exclusive Interview: V star Morena Baccarin sheds her skin
By  Abbie Bertsein

The actress talks about the new season of the ABC alien invasion series

In ABC’s reboot of V, the alien Visitors trying to take over Earth are led by
Anna (played by Morena Baccarin), who is a pretty cold customer even by
extraterrestrial reptile standards. She mates with humans and then eats
them, skins alive subordinates who displease her and even beats up her
own daughter Lisa for disobedience.

This season, we’ll see that Anna also has been dishing out rough treatment
to her mother (portrayed by Jane Badler, who was the primary alien villaine-
ss in the original ’80s incarnation of V).

Thanks to the fact that Anna is played by Baccarin (pronounced BACK-a-rin), she looks fabulous while behaving heinously. We caught up briefly with Baccarin to talk about where V has been and where it’s going when Season Two debuts January 4 on ABC.

Last season, it was perceived that either V or FLASHFORWARD would be renewed for a second season by ABC, but not both. Was that a situation that had you sort of biting your nails?

I have to say we were pretty confident. It didn’t have to be one or the other, but we were confident the show was doing well.

What do you feel the series’ strengths became as the first season went along – do you think it got stronger in any areas?

I feel like we really hit our stride somewhere halfway through and the final three episodes I think were really what the show is about, and we all feel really happy with it.

Going into the new season, are we seeing more all-out war, or is it continuing to be the espionage seduction/threat dynamic of first season?

I’m not sure. I know that we’re going to continue to have somewhat of a war, but I don’t think it’s going to go full on, because otherwise the show’s over. But you’re going to see what the red sky is and where several characters of the show are going.

We’ve seen that Anna sprouts fangs when she mates. How did you enjoy working with those?

That was really fun. That’s a fun thing to do at work [laughs]. Well, I didn’t have to have any makeup on for that. It was all CGI, it was a special effect.

The VFX people just said, “Open your mouth wide and we’ll do the rest”?

Exactly. It was easy as far as I was concerned. I didn’t have to do the hard work.

Do you feel any kind of ownership of the mothership set there – when you walk onto it, do you have a feeling of, “This is mine”?

[laughs] I don’t have a set, so no. It’s all green screen, so it’s just a big green room. I love working there – it feels like home.

How do you feel about the mother/daughter relationships in Anna’s life? I mean, is that normal for Vs, or is she notably cold even if you’re an extraterrestrial reptile?

I think that’s the V way of life. It’ll be really interesting to see the dynamics between Lisa and Elizabeth Mitchell’s character, and Anna and Lisa, and Anna and her mother, to be able to see how the [different] mothers operate.

Anything else you’d like to say about V or your career overall?

Just that I’m very happy to be where I am

'V' exec teases Marc Singer role....
ON MARC SINGER'S RETURN TO V

A while back TvGuide.com broke the news that Marc Singer, who starred in
the original V, will appear in the ABC reboot this winter. Singer  will play Lars
Tremont, who belongs to a secret organization of high-ranking government
and military leaders from around the globe who are suspicious of the Visitors...

Well thanks to Jeffery Morgan of TVGuide.com, who spoke with Scott Rosenbaum,
we now have more insight into Mike Donovan - er..., Lars Tremont's character...

Marc Singer's character will play a big role in the next level of the Visitor
resistance. "He's the leader of this massive [government-funded] military
group called The Aries Project," says executive producer Scott Rosenbaum.
"They're not a rag-tag [organization]; they're the real deal."

Marc Singer will appear in the tenth (and final) episode of season 2.

Interview with Elizabeth Mitchell
by J. Halterman

Fans of Elizabeth Mitchell can rejoice in knowing that one of our favorite
ladies is return to weekly television as her sci-fi series, V, is set to launch
into Season 2 on January 4, on ABC.

While Mitchell's character, Erica, had a hell of a first season trying to save
her teenage son, fight off alien invaders and, in the process, save the world,
Mitchell told AfterEllen.com last week that we haven't seen anything yet.
Has the show changed at all from Season 1 into 2? And how have you been
coping with the stunts and action, week after week? And who on the show
is suggesting that Erica and the evil alien leader Anna (Morena Baccarin)
lock lips? Read on and find out.

Talk to me about the journey from Season 1 to 2. Has there been some fine-
tuning?
I think it's a lot different than Season 1. I've been pretty vocal about the fact that I thought, in Season 1, we did too much talking about what we needed to do, and not as much doing what we needed to do.

In Season 2, we're doing what we need to do and I really prefer that. It's much more fun to watch. I think it's a sci-fi show. What I've always hoped for is an intelligent popcorn thriller. I'm not hoping for a beautiful Merchant-Ivory film or Anna Karenina. I just want it to be really, really fun and kind of believable at the same time.

In watching the first three episodes of the upcoming season, you're really kicking butt and taking names. How have you held up with all the physicality of playing Erica?
I trained all summer so I could do it and do it with ease, so it's been pretty good and it's always good to outrun the boys! I've had a great time and it definitely breaks up the monotony of a 16-hour shoot at night. It's like kindergarten when you get to go out for recess. That's what the stunts are! It gives you a bit of a recess.

I love that Jane Badler from the original V series is joining the show as Anna's mother. She's so jovial in real life but then you see her as Diana and she's so scary!
You watch her onscreen and she's something else, but then you meet her and she's down to earth and funny and kind and just lovely. I had a great time with her.

In the beginning, Diana is being held prisoner by her daughter. Is it safe to say she won't be Anna's little prisoner forever?
I think it's pretty safe to say. That's the hope anyway.

Does it put pressure on you that it's an ensemble show but your name comes up first and you're seen as the lead. Does that create pressure? No, I'm not much of a pressure girl. I just do what I want to and then go back to my quiet little life. I don't feel too much pressure [but] I do feel that it's quite a bit of work because I'm always there. Marina is the face of the show and she's definitely the one who's out there. She's so captivating and that's really fun.

I'm surrounded by a bunch of pretty wonderful people and I get to spend a great deal of time with them. And I try really hard [to ensure] that we do the best work we can. But it's not pressure. I think that you succeed or you don't succeed. I don't get too wrapped up in that. I'm too old. [laughs] I just enjoy where I am.

EXCLUSIVE: Jane Badler Speaks on Return to V
by Matt Richenthal

It's been 25 years since Jane Badler portrayed the character of Visitor Diana
on the original V mini series, but the actress tells TV Fanatic she couldn't wait
to reprise this role.

In fact, when ABC first announced it would revive V as a series, Badler says:
"I had a really strong reaction. I felt like I should really be back on the show."

So she contacted the producer at the time, was told the drama wanted to get
through a full season before bringing back any old characters, and then was
cast again in the role she originated in 1984 for season two.

Badler's Diana - the mother of Visitor leader Anna - will appear on all 13 episodes
in 2011. Below, she tells us more about what's in store and how she interacted
with the cast.

How do we meet Diana on the season premiere?
It's revealed at the end of the episode that she's been kept in a dungeon by her
daughter, who told all other Visitors that Diana was dead.

Why?
Diana and Anna have very different viewpoints on how to rule. Anna sees human
emotion as a negative, as the downfall of that species. She kills any Visitor that
expresses it. But Diana thinks emotion can be a powerful weapon and sees ways in which it can be useful.

Can you compare the original to the remake?
In both, there's a strong delineation between the freedom fighters and the lizards. They interact, but they also tell parallel stories between these sides and that's similar to the original. So are the political undertones and the concept of a strong woman battling against a strong woman.

What was it like working with this cast?
It takes Diana awhile to leave that dungeon, so I didn't interact with everyone. But it's a great cast, I'm not just saying that. I worked beautifully with Morena Baccarin because she's very intense as an actress and so am I.

What else are you working on?
I have a new CD and music video coming out. For the next six months, I'll be putting my energy into that album launch. You can read a lot more about it on my website.

Her daughter, Megan Lee, announced her mother had died at her home in
the Brentwood area of Los Angeles.  She suffered in complications from a
broken hip which had resulted in her passing.

Neva Patterson, who was familiar to many of us as Mike Donovans mother
Elenor Dupre in the 80's original V, and its sequel V: The Final Battle passed
away yesterday.  Patterson already was a Broadway veteran when she was
cast to play Lois for the Cary Grant movie. She originated the role of Helen
Sherman in the 1952 Broadway play "The Seven Year Itch."

Her career in movies and TV ran from the 1940s to the 1990s and included
more than 100 appearances. But, it was her exceptional role as Elenor in  V
and  V: The Final Battle that will forever have her in the the hearts of a
continuing fan base for many years to come.

It was reported that she had several fans because of the miniseries series and they kept writing and visiting her, but stopped recently.

Neva is survived by her daughter, Megan, her son, Filippo Quaretti-Lee and eight other grand and great grandchildren.

R. I. P. Neva.  You were the Visitor collaberator that intrigued us the most, and will continue to intrigue many new fans for years to come..

Official ABC press release for V 2.2, "Serpents Tooth"

"V" will make its highly-anticipated Season Two premiere, TUESDAY, JANUARY 4 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on ABC.
In the second episode of Season 2, "Serpents Tooth" Anna and Diana square off in the dark bowels of the Mothership - Diana has been down there for 15 years and not had a single glimpse of Anna. Meanwhile, Erica has Tyler's blood analyzed, and learns the V's did something sinister to her when she was pregnant with him.

A Fifth Columnist vs. the Winchester boys?

Lovable visitor and original V star Willie, Robert Englund -- and all-round super
scary person -- is set to guest star on tonights Supernatural. Englund may be
playing against his typical scary type as his character will be trying to save one
of the Winchesters, not trying to kill him. Or so it seems ...

Sources say Englund will play a character known only as "Dr. Robert." Executive
producer Sera Gamble explained that they often find themselves in situations
where they need medical attention but can't exactly stroll into an ER. ... Robert
plays an unlicensed doc who makes his living stitching folks up on the down
low. The storey opens with where Dean goes to Dr. Robert  with a life-or-death
problem." (Hmmm, anyone else picking up possible zombie vibes right now?)

This episode will air on the CW  December, 10.  Check your local listings

Official ABC press release for V 2.1, "Red Rain."

"V" will make its highly-anticipated Season Two premiere, TUESDAY, JANUARY 4 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on ABC. The Season Two opener, "Red Rain," continues the action from last season's finale when Anna unleashed Red Sky on the planet. With the world on the brink of war and chaos all around, is there anyone who can stand up to Anna? Meanwhile, Ryan has been kept in isolation on the mothership, away from his hybrid baby so that Anna can experiment on her. Chad, seeking redemption for being used by Anna, now wants to fight with the Fifth Column; and Erica goes on a journey to find a scientist who can give her the answers to what Red Sky is, and where she learns the horrifying secret of what the V's are doing on our planet.

A while back sirianvisitors.com had reported on an interview that Marc Singer
had with Examiner.com's Jenny Shields.  In that interview Marc had expressed
some interest in being offered a role on ABC's reimagining of V

"I have had no opportunity to see the new "V" yet, but I root for my
colleagues' success. Other than that, it would be nice to be offered a role."

TV Guides William Keck reveals that ABC has heard his request and announced
that Marc Singer has signed to guest star in the second-season finale.  Rumors
have already began to surface that Singer could become a series regular should
ABC greenlight a third season.

A Hero Reborn:
Singer will return again as a Freedom Fighter, however he will not reprise the role
of beloved camerman Mike Donovan, the lead charcater that he portrayed in the
original '80's version, this time around Marc Singer is reported to be playing a new
character named Lars Tremont. Lars is a member of a super top secret organization
comprised of high-ranking military and government leaders from around the globe,
who have long suspected that the Visitors — despite what they tell us — are very
much not here in peace.
